Ilana Rein
Ilana Rein was born and raised in New York City and is a Los Angeles-based director and screenwriter. Her films have been screened at film festivals, galleries, and universities internationally. It's been written that Rein is "spearheading a new genre"* that blurs the line between science fiction and reality and that her work demonstrates a "...profound hunger to connect through art...stories that feel directly relevant to the challenges of the modern day."** After receiving a B.A. from Oberlin College and an M.F.A from the School of Visual Arts in New York City, Rein started her career as a photographer with her work being widely exhibited and published. She began directing films after the events of 9/11 and her first, Periphery, was an official selection of the New York Video Festival at Lincoln Center (run by the New York Film Festival) in 2002. The roots of Rein's film work grow from her award-winning film We Are All Cylons. In filming Cylons, she immersed herself in the world of Battlestar Galactica fandom and, as part of the creative process, "Rein imagined making the film as an AI would."*** Cylons premiered at Sci-Fi London Film Festival in 2011 and had an international festival run. Rein wrote and directed Ellipse, which was shot on location at The Royal Observatory in U.K. Ellipse premiered at the BFI in 2013 in London. To prepare, she collaborated with professors of AI and astrophysics at MIT and Princeton. Perception is Rein's debut feature film. Two works in development, Alignment Project and Out of the Everywhere, are inspired by the year Rein spent in the remote Arizona desert researching unidentified aerial phenomena, Native American mythology, and astronomy. She is attached to direct the feature Penny Whistler, a film she and her writing partner--Brian Smith--were commissioned to adapt from the Ken Russell screenplay. Rein's work has been featured in numerous publications, including Wired, Doubletake, Scientific American, 9/9 Paris, and Art in America. She travels to New York City to collaborate with Guggenheim Fellow Lenore Malen on multi-media installations, most recently for State of Emergency, a guerrilla projection event that took place at the corner of Bowery and Prince Street in November 2017 and Eve in Sheepland, screened widely in 2019. In 2020 Rein started as a director and producer on Channel Zed, an educational live-streaming channel. Ilana Turner
On screen, Ilana has worked on projects for HBO, SyFy Channel, SpikeTV, and starred in the BAFTA/LA-nominated film The Red Ace Cola Project. In Newness (2017), directed by Drake Doremus and written by Ben York Jones, Ilana appears in a small role opposite Nicholas Hoult, Laia Costa, and Danny Huston. On stage, she starred in a world premiere at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and in Suzan-Lori Parks' 365 Plays for 365 Days. She has starred in numerous commercials, including spots for directors Noam Murro, Tom Kuntz, and Joe Pytka. L.A. Stage Raw Playwriting award-nominee Ilana Turner's first play, the award-winning O Réjane, premiered in 2014 to critical acclaim, and led to Ilana's first screenwriting job for an Oscar-nominated Executive Producer. Ilana is the recipient of the Max K. Lerner Fellowship for play Ollie & D, which was workshopped and read at Inkwell Theater (2019). Play Slur was developed in The Vagrancy writers program, and read in the Blossoming Festival (2019). Three-time Tony nominee Kevin Chamberlin read Sugar Coat it at an advocacy & arts event covered by the Advocate, at which Ilana also performed. Ilana is an ex-professional figure skater, trained dancer, former circus school student, and the owner of Moelle Pilates in Los Angeles. She holds a B.A. in Theater & Dance from Hampshire College.

Australia Writer-Director Ilanthirayan 'Alan' Arumugam was born in 1978 . Alan's creative journey started with a passion in poetry and writing, which further developed into directing Stage Plays and Cultural Events in University where he studied Business Administration and Accounting. Alan recalls the short film 'Copy Shop' (2001) by Virgil Widrich to be an eye-opener in his taste and perspective of Film making. Having completed a Supernatural Thriller flick, Aiyai: Wrathful Soul in early 2020, which has received multiple awards and selections from Film Festivals around the world, Alan is working on the preproduction of his ambitious Action Thriller, Rocada His forthcoming directorial slate (in order of succession) are Rocada (In Development), The Nine Knights, and The Forgotten 1943. Rocada, Planned as a Hollywood / Australian co-production to be shot in Australia, brings to the screen a collection of distinct, eclectic characters which drive a fast-paced, stunt-laden, thriller story of Adrenaline-pumping misdirection with wide appeal. In his own words, "In the pursuit of my filmmaking quest, I have learned the value of a life well-lived from reading human minds and attributes, exploring life's eccentricities, and admiring the beauty and might of nature. I would like to delve into various genres, come up with unique ways of storytelling to establish special connections with my audience and stir their imaginations to whole new levels".
