Marcello (named after Italian actor Marcello Mastroianni) is the youngest of five children. His parents, Assunta Cacioppo, a house wife and Carmelo Cacioppo, an auto mechanic immigrated from Agrigento, Sicily between the years of 1947-1966 to Toronto, Canada,Marcello's hometown. Growing up in an Italian household was were it all really began for him as a performer. The colorful characters in his large Italian family opened up his imagination often leading him to imitate the accents and facial expressions from everyone in his family to the neighbours in his Italian neighbourhood. It was then the door to the world of the arts opened up for him. At Around the age of 8, Marcello developed a love for music, he would sneak into his brothers home studio when he was not home and bang on the drums, it wasn't long before with the influence of his brother Lu Caci (guitarist of the band Mar-KZ and Ugly Melon") that he would take playing drums seriously and get his own drum kit. Playing drums in high school solidified his passion for the arts often playing at the Toronto City Hall and two years in a row at the Vanier Cup, championship of Canadian university football. After high school Marcello continued to play in local bars with various musicians including family members. Years later he would become the drummer for the short lived band Sons of Ben with Jeremy Renner and John Stauffer. While downtown after playing a gig a photographer for a local newspaper, The Toronto Sun, asked to take his picture for an upcoming publication. Marcello taking this opportunity pitched the idea of having his twin brother Marco Cacioppo photographed as well. The photographer loved the idea so much the newspaper had a sign made up with the Toronto Blue Jays logo saying "Let two it" as it was the week the Toronto Blue Jays were in their second World Series. The twin idea worked, they were published as the Sunshine Boys holding the sign the day the Toronto Blue Jays won their second World Series. Shortly after the twins picture appeared in The Toronto Sun a local theatrical agent contacted the photographer asking if they can meet with the Cacioppo Twins. After a couple of phone calls, a meeting and a cold read the agency signed the twins and immediately began sending Marcello and Marco on auditions both as twins and on separate castings. Marcello's strength as an actor are a combination of not only his deep expressive green eyes but that of his colorful Italian upbringing which adds a richness to the characters he embodies and portrays. Marcello first paying role was in a Coca-Cola commercial, since then Marcello has performed on stage, in numerous plays as well as in independent short and feature films that have made the festival circuit and limited theatrical release. Marcello has also been featured in a Dolce & Gabbana 2008 fall campaign with Giselle Bündchen, photographed by Steven Meisel and appearing in issues such as Septembers fall and winter Vogue issue. Marcello continues exploration of the human condition in his everyday life. When not acting you can find Marcello cooking or engaging his friends and guests in one of his pizzerias (Best Fckn Pizza)
