Stephen is an award-winning and professionally trained actor, writer, activist, and bestselling audiobook narrator. A native of Connecticut, his father ran his own property tax consulting business out of the family home and his mother was in banking. Stephen received his BA in Film Studies/Creative Writing from Central Connecticut State University before moving to NYC to attend the Stella Adler Studio of Acting's MFA Conservatory. Soon after graduating, he began performing and developing new work at famed NY theatre companies such as Rattlestick Playwrights Theatre, New York Theatre Workshop, the LAByrinth Theatre Company, Primary Stages (Rockwell Fellowship-winner), The New Group, Playwrights Horizons, and the legendary Actors Studio, where he is a lifetime member. He has also toured Japan and the US with the acclaimed drama "Hikobae", based on true stories of the 2011 Tohoku earthquake and tsunami. He has had the immense pleasure of working closely and learning from such acclaimed artists as Oscar-winners Mark Rylance, F. Murray Abraham, Frances McDormand, John Patrick Shanley, Estelle Parsons, and Ellen Burstyn in addition to renowned teachers Austin Pendleton, Larry Moss, Terry Schreiber, Chazz Palminteri, and Bob Krakower who have given him the tools to dig deep into his roles and not stop until he finds the truth of the characters he plays. His dedication and discipline have helped him land choice roles on stage, as well as on hit TV shows including a recurring roles on "Evil" (CBS/Paramount Plus) and "Living With Yourself" (Netflix), as well as supporting work on the limited series "Dr. Death" (NBC Peacock), & "Billions" (Showtime). His film work includes the award-winning short film "American Morning" which Stephen wrote, co-produced, and starred in alongside Emmy-winner Richard Schiff ("The West Wing", "The Good Doctor") and "She Said" directed by Emmy-winner and BAFTA-nominee, Maria Schrader ("Unorthodox"). When not creating, Stephen can be found reading classic literature, watching classic films, eating Skittles, drinking Orangina, running in Astoria Park, protesting on the streets of NYC against national and global injustices, traveling, and spending time immersed in nature.
